The majority of the collection consists of departmental meeting minutes and chronological correspondence files containing letters to and from the chairman, department faculty, and the dean of the College of Letters & Science. The files document issues such as the budget, curriculum development, the graduate program, staffing, and relations with the Department of Zoology and the University of Wisconsin--Madison's Department of Biology.
